The Crystal Palace Academy:

Crystal Palace are a team that has never been short of confidence, and it shows in their play style, with a thirst for wining, they know that to be a top team they have to improve all areas of their line-up. Recently, the team have showed a human touch to their game by helping out local communities with a new campaign to promote equality in sport.

The Kick It Out campaign is way the club can attempt to improve discriminatory issues across the sport.

This is an area that is also close to FootieBugs heart as we believe that sport should be available to all regardless of colour or creed.

With Crystal Palace considered to be one of the big five London teams, FootieBugs believes this makes them a big attraction, and gives them the ability to bring in players from all across the world, each one attracted to one of the finest academy facilities.

This is a great opportunity for the academy players to socialize with different cultures and vary the way they play alongside new players.

This is why FootieBugs feel like we have a unique advantage and may be the reason why Crystal Palace have had some impressive wins in the Premier League over the years.

Academy Staff:

Since returning to the game Gary Issott has been finding several ways to re-energize the club. As someone who was in charge of the side when they beat Manchester City 4-3 back in 2013, he knows his players can beat the big teams and we look forward to seeing some great players coming through the academy system soon.
Ex player and coach Steven Reid was appointed as the first team coach at the start of 2018 as part of Roy Hodgson’s new backroom staff. As he is a young coach taking up the role, he will have a good connection with the young players and given his football background, he has more than enough experience to help oversee the youths teams development into the first team.

How to get noticed by a scout

Generally, premier league clubs are closely following open trials as a way of pinpointing the newest talent, as well as having a vast network of scouts across the UK. Scouts are often preferential over structured leagues or with players of a high standard, playing together. This is one thing that FootieBugs academy can offer through our weekly training sessions and games against local teams managed by professional coaches. Because we cover a range of age groups at U6’s-U14’s we have a high demand for young upcoming talent and receive frequent scouts visiting from our partners Birmingham City. Due the coaches we have available at our hand that have all played at professional level we can easily distinguish which players are leagues above in terms of skill and can refer them onto Premier League clubs.

“If you’re good enough, generally they’ll find you.”

Crystal Palace Academy Scouting System:

After a scout has seen a player, they will usually contact them and invite them to a trial day, otherwise the more common method of finding talents from all over are through football trial days and football camps. FootieBugs goes the extra mile in making your job easier as a parent and a young footballer. With our focused training sessions, the FootieBugs Academy will try it’s best to match your ability with a club who will nurture your talent . We will shape a football player into a footballer, by working on improving the child’s overall game and their image to scouts at Premier League Clubs.

This is where the FootieBugs Academy thrives, not only will FootieBugs look to put players forward to Crystal Palace when they feel they are ready, but FootieBugs will also ensure that Crystal Palace will be fully aware of what training each player will have received from the FootieBugs Academy and why the player has shown enough (Footballing skill as well as dedication and attitude) to be worthy of a trial.
