The Everton Academy:

The Everton FC end goal is to build a team that can challenge the top 4 four and play at an elite level across all European competitions. The first team are already showing promise and distancing themselves from the lower league table tables. The academy has already proved to be successful so far in creating 15 international players from grass roots level. We believe that it is important to set long term goals so that players have something to focus on throughout the season.

It’s difficult being one of two teams across the River Mersey, especially when Liverpool are doing so well in all cup competitions. Although, the scouts at Everton FC have made some big signings to swing the team back into winning ways, players like Wayne Rooney, Theo Walcott and Aaron Lennon will all be linking up like the England of old to ensure Everton push for a top six finish next season. This is something we agree with and our academy coaches try to encourage players to work as a team and try to find players all over the pitch rather than just friends.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has managed 7 different Premier League clubs, which is a record that’s yet to be beaten.

Academy Staff:

Steve Walsh is the current director at Everton FC, billed with the difficult task of player recruitment and keeping everyone involved with the club happy. Walsh has been remembered in the past for being in charge of the league winning side Leicester City and bringing in influential players including Kante, Mahrez and Vardy. Walsh will be hoping to recreate some of the historic premier league moments he had with Leicester over future seasons.
Under-23’s Manager and director David Unsworth has revisited Everton for the third time in his managerial career. Currently, he is doing good work in raising some new English prospects. With players like Calvert-Lewin and Tom Davies putting pressure on England’s first team, FootieBugs believe that Unsworth has found the perfect mix in his new coaching style.

How to get noticed by a scout

Generally, premier league clubs are closely following open trials as a way of pinpointing the newest talent, as well as having a vast network of scouts across the UK. Scouts are often preferential over structured leagues or with players of a high standard, playing together. This is one thing that FootieBugs academy can offer through our weekly training sessions and games against local teams managed by professional coaches. Because we cover a range of age groups at U6’s-U14’s we have a high demand for young upcoming talent and receive frequent scouts visiting our training sessions and matches. Due to the professional coaches we have available that have all played at a high level, we are able to distinguish which players are leagues above in terms of skill and can refer them onto Premier League clubs.

“If you’re good enough, generally they’ll find you.”

Everton Academy Scouting System:

After a scout has seen a player, they will usually contact them and invite them to a trial day, otherwise the more common method of finding talents from all over are through football trial days and football camps. FootieBugs goes the extra mile in making your job easier as a parent and a young footballer. With our focused training sessions, the FootieBugs Academy will try it’s best to match your ability with the club you belong to be playing for. We will shape a football player into a footballer, by working on improving the child’s overall game and their image to scouts at Premier League Clubs.

This is where the FootieBugs Academy thrives, not only will FootieBugs look to put players forward to Everton when they feel they are ready, but FootieBugs will ensure that Everton will be fully aware of what training each player will have received from the FootieBugs Academy and why the player has shown enough (Footballing skill as well as dedication and attitude) to be worthy of a trial.
