The Manchester United Academy:

In past years, the Under-23’s development have always lived up to their first team. With 3 consecutive Professional Development League titles between 2012-2016 they have proved to show natural talent coming from the youth level. Paul Pogba left Man United some seasons ago because he was not ready or mature enough, is now one of the most expensive midfielders in world football. Our coaches could see Pogba’s career from when he began at Man United and predicted his success early on.

When discussing famous teams, it’s hard to look past Manchester United who are the most followed English team by some distance and arguably the richest club in the world, respectively behind Spanish clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The Red Devils aren’t short on the finances front, with is why you never hear the players complaining about their wages. But people forget that Man United Academy players worked hard to get their spot in the team, which means early mornings and late nights at an early age in football camps like FootieBugs.

Academy Of Old

Over the years Manchester United have evidently found a way to cheat the system, with an impressive amount of players that have come from the academy side into the first team.

When we look at Man Utd’s golden era of football, there are a long list of academy graduates that come to mind. David Beckham, Gary Neville and even the more bizarre like Robbie Savage. Hate them or love them, these players achieved everything in the league yet still the credit went to one of the greatest managers Sir Alex Ferguson.

Why?

Because we all know a top class coach can give drive a player to win trophies and unlock their full potential.

At FootieBugs we truly believe that the footballing brain contributes to half the success and the individual ability of the player is the rest. If a player feels they have either of these two key ingredients then we guarantee we can turn them into a complete player.

But what about Manchester United Academy’s more recent success

The dream for Man Utd academy players are to chase the appearances of Ryan Giggs and the goals of Wayne Rooney and can soon get caught up in the madness, however Marcus Rashford has proved that “doing you” and being composed when you it matters will bring equal success. Rashford is a hot prospect in today’s game and has played against the likes of Messi and Ronaldo at the age of 19! With our help that could be your child in the next ten years gracing the same pitch as football legends.

At FootieBugs we eliminate the pressures of playing football at a high level so early in a child’s life which is why our coaches are attentive to the individual needs of each footballer. We know that every quality that Rashford has, can be taught be our top professional coaches.

Academy Staff:

The current Head of Academy at Man Utd is one of the original members of the class of 92, Nicky Butt. Growing up, kids and even professionals have tried to replicate the success of this league winning squad and failed which is what makes the youth team unique. As they have a true winner at the top of the tree. Butt is mostly in charge of coaching at the club and will have a part to play in the players personal development.
Under-18’s manager Kieran Mckenna is one of the newest members of the Manchester United academy but has already made a lasting impression. The coach has an eye for talent and has helped guide young players like Fosu-Mensah, Jesse Lingard who have been the pinnacle of rising youngsters in the past years.   Image result for kieran mckenna
Under-23’s coach Ricky Sbragia was appointed the job back in 2017 and stated that he “couldn’t be happier” to return to the club and is constantly looking for “blooding” players to join the club. Having spent years in the football business, Sbragia doesn’t have time to father each player as such a big club need to win trophies fast and give back to the owners.    Image result for ricky sbragia man u

How to get noticed by a scout

Generally, premier league clubs are closely following open trials as a way of pinpointing the newest talent, as well as having a vast network of scouts across the UK. Scouts are often preferential over structured leagues or with players of a high standard, playing together. This is one thing that FootieBugs academy can offer through our weekly training sessions and games against local teams managed by professional coaches. Because we cover a range of age groups at U6’s-U14’s we have a high demand for young upcoming talent and receive frequent scouts visiting our training sessions and matches. Due to the professional coaches we have available that have all played at a high level, we are able to distinguish which players are leagues above in terms of skill and can refer them onto Premier League clubs.

“If you’re good enough, generally they’ll find you.”

Manchester United Academy Scouting System:

After a scout has seen a player, they will usually contact them and invite them to a trial day, otherwise the more common method of finding talents from all over are through football trial days and football camps. FootieBugs goes an extra mile in making your job easier as a parent and a young footballer. With our focused training sessions, the FootieBugs Academy will try it’s best to match your ability with a club who will nurture your talent . We will shape a football player into a footballer, by working on improving the child’s overall game and their image to scouts at Premier League Clubs.

This is where the FootieBugs Academy thrives, not only will FootieBugs look to put players forward to Manchester United when they feel they are ready, but FootieBugs will also ensure Manchester United will be fully aware of what training each player will have received from the FootieBugs Academy and why the player has shown enough (Footballing skill as well as dedication and attitude) to be worthy of a trial.
