The Newcastle United Academy:

The Newcastle Academy team are one of the few to get at least a point from all the top four teams this current season, which is an impressive feet. Their position in the league doesn’t reflect how well they are playing and with Rafael Benitez currently at the club there is every chance that football across the board could see an improvement after years of frustration for the Newcastle United fans.

Newcastle are one of the few teams that train each academy team in different locations, this helps with bonding among individual teams and helps create a professional outfit. Newcastle Utd do eventually plan to adjoin the academy as a whole, with plans currently under review. Besides facilities, the club promise each player the perfect amount of education, training and management to play at the highest level but it is the players job to fulfil their potential and be at the coaches desired skill level.

Did you know?

Newcastle Utd managed to take 34 points from losing positions in the 2001/02 season, which is the most a PL team has ever managed, there’s definitely some fight in that Newcastle squad.

Newcastle Academy Staff:

Newcastle are continuing to innovate the future of coaching at the club which are good signs. With the first ever female appointment, Natalie Henderson is the Assistant Coach of the Under-10’s team. This shows that Newcastle really do care about equal opportunities and are willing to go against the norm, which is positive for young players who are worried about performing at trials.
Simon Smith, the Academy Goalkeeping coach has more to offer than just safe hands. After working with coaching legends such as the late Sir Bobby Robson he can truly say that he has learnt from the best. Despite being named as the Goalkeeping coach, he has been at the club for over 10 years and anyone who impresses at trial days or training sessions for the academy, may be on the top of his watch-list.

How to get noticed by a scout

Generally, premier league clubs are closely following open trials as a way of pinpointing the newest talent, as well as having a vast network of scouts across the UK. Scouts are often preferential over structured leagues or with players of a high standard, playing together. This is one thing that FootieBugs academy can offer through our weekly training sessions and games against local teams managed by professional coaches. Because we cover a range of age groups at U6’s-U14’s we have a high demand for young upcoming talent and receive frequent scouts visiting our training sessions and matches. Due to the professional coaches we have available that have all played at a high level, we are able to distinguish which players are leagues above in terms of skill and can refer them onto Premier League clubs.

“If you’re good enough, generally they’ll find you.”

Newcastle United Academy Scouting System:

After a scout has seen a player, they will usually contact them and invite them to a trial day, otherwise the more common method of finding talents from all over are through football trial days and football camps. FootieBugs goes the extra mile in making your job easier as a parent and a young footballer. With our focused training sessions, the FootieBugs Academy will try it’s best to match your ability with a club who will nurture your talent . We will shape a football player into a footballer, by working on improving the child’s overall game and their image to scouts at Premier League Clubs.

This is where the FootieBugs Academy thrives, not only will FootieBugs look to put players forward to Newcastle FC when they feel they are ready, but FootieBugs will also ensure Newcastle will be fully aware of what training each player will have received from the FootieBugs Academy and why the player has shown enough (Footballing skill as well as dedication and attitude) to be worthy of a trial.
